PHUKET – THAILAND

There is a lot of opinions about Phuket both positives and negatives. We do agree it’s one of the most touristic places in Thailand and probably we were least amazed by it. But if you have a choice to go or not to go there you should definitely do. We want to present few places worth a visit while you’re there.

Karon View Point

One of the most crowded places we’ve visited. View over Ko Pu island and beaches in many coves made it up for crowds. After few photos and tasty smoothie we quickly evacuated ourselves  towards beach.

Kata Beach

One of the beaches we were admiring from Karon view point. It’s located in a cove it’s wide and sandy. Our visit was in low season on a rather cloudy day so there weren’t many people on the beach. We found picturesque swing and took a lot of photos.

Kathu Waterfall

In our opinion not overly impressive but if you’re nearby It makes for nice walk. We also did longer trek around the jungle and after season we haven’t met even one human being.

Surin Beach

Long, beautiful, sandy beach with many food stalls. We were chilling on the hammocks hang up on palm trees. Surin Beach wasn’t overcrowded either but we bet during high season it looks much different.

Bang Pae Waterfall

the biggest waterfall in Phuket and much more impressive than Kathu. If you really want to see beautiful waterfalls we recommend North around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. To reach Bang Pae you have to take narrow path along the river but walk is really enjoyable due to shade. It’s a popular place with local people and kids to play in a river. Dawid grabbed the opportunity and was jumping with local kids from rocks straight to river pools. If you have time just for one waterfall in Phuket choose this one.

Monkey hill

View point near Phuket town where you can see groups of monkeys. They very often walk on the road in large groups or chill on nearby trees. The ones we saw weren’t as aggressive as the one in around Phi Phi

Moving around – Phuket

We recommend scooter, island is small enough to go around like that. In Phuket town is one of very few rental places which have a web page and full service online. You can find it here.

You can get to the island by plane, among others, from Bangkok or Chiang Mai in the north, as well as by boat, for example, from Phi Phi islands, which are a great place to visit during your visit to Phuket!

Other activities – Phuket

Kayaks – You can rent in many places and it’s a nice alternative to just sitting on the beach. You can also burn some calories after eating tons of tasty Thai food. Best to kayak in coves and bays to avoid waves.

Paddle Board – again you can rent in many places and gives you something to do while bored on the beach

Excursions – if you won’t be moving a lot around Thailand and Phuket is your main place you can organise a lot of trips to Islands and bays.

Where to eat – Phuket

Audy Beach Shack – Shack by the beach with plastic chairs and so on. We didn’t expect much but it turned to be a gem! We ate good and cheap but in Thailand it’s not really a great deal. Audy is located by Surin Beach.
